Spanish Through Story & Song
A class for 2 and 3 year olds
My name is Laura Hernandez. I am a licensed Spanish Teacher certified in Early Childhood through 12th grade and have been teaching Spanish for over 25 years.
I created a program especially designed for two and three year old students called “Spanish through Story & Song”.
- The children listen to and sing songs in Spanish along with appropriate gestures and creative movement. This gives them an “ear” for Spanish and starts to get their brains ready for a second (or third) language. Not only is it a lot of fun but the children learn the words naturally and at their own pace.
- Next, we have a hands-on activity which gives each child a turn to participate. This activity most frequently centers on colors, numbers or seasonal themes.
- Following the activity, we read a story that contains repetitive language which enables them to “read” with me and say the words.
- At the end of every class the children get a “sorpresa” or surprise which is something they can look at, touch and hold. They learn the name of the article in Spanish. Then they pass it around and we talk about it.
They really look forward to La Sorpresa!

Please use the Sign-Up sheet posted at the entrance of the school. There is a one-time registration and materials fee of $15.00 due at sign up. The class fee is $35.00 per month. Once you sign up, you will be sent more detailed information. If you’ve already done so, thank you.
